BEFORE & AFTER: At sunset on the first day of fall, I felt like a wise old oak tree, shaking off my dead leaves!
How’s your spirit? Honestly, I’ve been struggling to keep positive after the election upset. Conceptually, I can see that this is clearly a call to wake up and face the state of the world. Having Trump in office disrupts our habit of complacency. Indeed this is the moment we lightworkers and shadow-dancers have all been preparing for, a powerful time for the evolution of humanity. HOWEVER, despite my theoretical acceptance, I’m still riding waves of mixed emotions!

Devin’s Grandma’s coming to visit:
My mother moved in with us this month (temporarily, while her new carlsbad home is in escrow.) Most women have a complex relationship to their mothers, in my case, this is doubly true. I first left my mother’s house after my Quinceañera, when I came out as a lesbian. Through the years My identity has evolved into bisexual, tantric, kinky, and poly. Although she has NOT been supportive of my lifestyle, we have managed to make peace with our differences.
This is a unique healing opportunity, for both of us. We share a passionate artistic temperament and a deep intuitive connection to spirit. I’m eager to practice forgiveness and learn from her mystical gifts and womanly talents. Many friends have joked that I should do a reality show about our intercultural, multi-generational experiment while we are living under the same roof. And I hope, in time, she will get more comfortable meeting my lovers.
Historically, my mother has not been a big fan of my writing and teaching, (She said most Mexican’s would wipe their ass with my books) but since my first book has recently been translated into her mother tongue: Spanish, she actually said she was proud of me! In turn, I have invited her to my upcoming book release party. Which is coming up right after I return from my big pilgrimage to Israel.
Frankly, I have never been so excited to travel anywhere in my life. Maybe I need to get out of the country to connect with my global community, maybe I need some space from my nuclear family, but it feels like I’m being called by my spiritual ancestors.
