I first met Mukee Okan in Sedona at a Daka Dakini Conference when I was pregnant. I bought one of her paintings and we had an instant connection. We agreed to stay in touch with weekly phone calls.  Which turned into a full year of peer coaching/ creative accountability calls during my postpartum depression. Together we shared many tears as we mourned our creative miscarriages. And we also shared a ton of laughter, celebrating our individual artistic accomplishments. I remember she was working on a sexy video series, using a banana as a metaphor for an erection, branding herself as “Your Orgasm’s Best Friend.”  I also have a fond memory of the day she published her 1st book of shamanic shields. (http://au.blurb.com/b/108435-spirit-shields)

And then she made a special trip to attend my book release party when Baba Dez Nichols and I published our book, Sacred Sexual Healing . She showed up at my door dressed from head to toe in orange flowing fabrics and spontaneously played her harmonium for over 130 people. (As shown in the photo above.)

Our paths continued to cross for almost a decade at sex and consciousness conferences, Quodoshka training, or other creative clusters. When my reality TV show was picked up by Showtime, I had a powerful intuitive hit that I wanted her Art to adorn my walls. I asked her if I could use the inspiration and protection of one particular shield: Ida & Pingala for my show, she was happy to have her art be part of my creative process.

Although we fell out of touch in the physical realms, I always felt connected to her at the level of the soul. In her final days before leaving the planet, she came to me again and showed me this special shield, but this time it was on the cover of my next book. (www.SexShaman.com)

My last exchange with her was getting permission to use her art for my next book. And when I asked her how she wanted to be remembered, or what she wanted me to say about the artist, she said, “Tell them about Pussy Talks” This film was the legacy of this sexually liberated visionary.

ABOUT MUKEE OKAN

Mukee has been a wise woman, grandmother, artist, and teacher of sexuality for over 30 years. Known to her closest friends and mentors and Muktananda, meaning the bliss of spiritual freedom. She was initiated into a traditional tantric yogic lineage in 1984. A certified Surrogate Partner in the western medical model of sexual healing and a Quodoushka Spiritual Sexuality teacher. She’s known as Your Orgasm’s Best Friend. She can be seen as the sexuality educator in The Vagina Diaries, a documentary made for the Australian Broadcasting Commission investigating why so many women, especially young women, undergo cosmetic labiaplasty in Australia.

Mukee Okan’s greatest legacy is the creation of THE PUSSY TALKS™ a 55 minute documentary of 28 women sharing their most intimate sexual anatomy. Mukee’s purpose is peace on earth through transforming the discourse on sex, by catalyzing a new standard of excellence in multi-media production. Viewing THE PUSSY TALKS allows humanity to witness and connect with the most sacred part of themselves and all women. Reflecting sexual well-being as the natural expression of the divine design embodying oneness, and what is possible being at peace with the power of sex.
